Day 29 - If you can't take the heat....

2009.11.25
My mom wasn't sure if she wanted to trust me with the big knife.

After making the pecan pie, I was punished by peeling apples. I loath peeling apples! I finished maybe 6 in about 40 minutes. UGH!

Since my apple peeling skills are sub par, my mom jumped in and finished up the chore.

Ok, so now that I have the two pictures next to each other, I regret doing the desaturated filter on this one. I was just getting ready to brag about how I made the pecan pie all by myself, but it doesn't look as yummy in the pictures.

These cranberries had no clue they were to be ground up in the food processor. They were to be made into a jello, cranberry, pineapple...thing.

My dad brought this in while we were cooking. He thought it was a very impressive color so I told him I would go take pictures of it. Don't worry, the pies were cooking. I didn't abandon my mom.

And for a dip in the water.

water patterns are great.

Upon going in my parent's shed, I found this box. It was quite difficult to open, but once we did we found these world war two goggles. My dad said he thought they were his uncle's?

My dad's uncle was a tail gunner who was eventually shot down.

Very eventful find!

Back to the kitchen! These are the apple pies nearly done.

And to conclude: us taking the apple pies out of the oven...or at least posing like we are.

I went over to mom's to help her get ready for Thanksgiving. I'd say we were pretty successful but exhausted by the end. I don't have super eventful days, but this was a surprising one. I cooked a pie by myself, found a bit of family history and got to spend time with my family.

revenant I always thought touting a camera would get me off cooking until my daughter and I moved to Provence. I'm the only one (for now) who can cook. Pardon the pun, but thank God we French have nothing to be grateful for.
Lovely captures.
