BUT I took this a long time ago and never had a chance to post it. My mom and I went for the dinner and then to help with the workshop. We were helping with the candle making part, which consists of rolling a sheet of bees wax around a wick.

In the middle of helping, Mom asked if I wanted to go make a wreath for our house. I reluctantly said, "Sure," and went back upstairs to begin making it. A half hour later, my mom came up searching for me. I was putting the last few pine branches in the arrangement and beginning to add the poinsettias and pinecones.

If you ask an artist to make something, they're going to do it right. Mom was impressed with my wreath, and I think it's quite pretty as well.

Powered by Photoblog.com

There was a big winter festival, and a lighting ceremony at 6:00. It was an enjoyable day spent with loved ones.

We even got to see the house from A Christmas Story. I didn't get a very good picture of it though. It was neat to see the house from a movie that I've been watching since I was a kid. The Bumpasses were not next door however. :)

Powered by Photoblog.com

It seemed like a good idea the night before, but at 4:00 am you tend to rethink these things. I groggily crawled out of bed to make sure my mom was awake and still wanting to brave Black Friday. She was awake, and we both questioned our sanity.

We pulled out of the driveway at 4:30 after throwing on some clothes and enough makeup to make it look like we hadn't just rolled out of bed. I volunteered to drive even though it was snowing, and the snow played tricks on my eyes as it whizzed hypnotically toward the car as we drove the 20-minute drive to our destination.

As we neared Mansfield, we began to see more and more traffic as fellow shoppers drove to get theirs hands on the same deals we were hoping to receive. We pulled into the parking lot of Target and saw the line stretched down about 6 stores in the plaza. We parked and stood in line with everyone else.

What was our mission? $3 sandwich makers.

The doors finally opened, and the line slowly began filing inside. By the time we got to the door, it was already a mad house inside, and people were already lined up at registers with huge plasma tvs in their carts. We quickly moved toward the housewares in hopes that we were the only people who saw the ad for $3 sandwich makers, coffee makers, toasters, and crock pots. Sadly, when we found their location, the only remaining products were the crock pots that no one wanted.

It wasn't a good start to our Black Friday, but we revamped our vision for the day and managed to get a lot of shopping done (and saved a hell of a lot of money).

Powered by Photoblog.com
